Charlie gave me his first real smile tonight. He has smiled before but it was never obvious that it was a real one. But tonight after I fed him, he looked me straight in the eyes and smiled! It was so cute and wonderful. I vaguely remember this moment with the boys but I was still in such a fog from the lack of sleep...
Sadly, neither Steve nor I were fast enough to get the camera. Even though we had multiple opportunities since Charlie smiled for me at least 4 times. He's a keeper!

Charlie is1 month old today...
Charlie turned a month old today already... Where is the time going? It seems like just yesterday that I was impatiently awaiting his arrival.
He is doing amazingly for a month old. He has figured out that night time is for sleeping. He has been giving me a 4-5 hour block between his last feed before bed and his first waking. This has been wonderful, allowing me to get a good block early on in the night. Then he goes on to sleep a few other 2-3 hour blocks. He is so easy to feed and put back to sleep. It generally does not take longer than 20 minutes.
He is a quiet baby but makes himself heard when he needs us. He turns his head to find the voices of those people he recognizes. He especially likes listening to his big brothers talk and play around him. They do it often to help entertain him. He is so close to a real smile. He has smiled already but I'm not entirely convinced they were real ones. He 's a big boy already completely filling out and sometimes outgrowing size 3 month clothing.

Shirtless Joes
It was a hot and humid day yesterday. We tried to stay cool while still spending some time outside. We spent a good part of the afternoon (after the boys' quiet time) at the pool down the street. When we got home, I got the boys out of their bathing suits and they decided to not put a shirt back on. So they spent the evening being shirtless. They played outside in the sprinkler as well as what Steve referred to as "redneck golf"...

Charlie's sleeping habits
For the last week or so Charlie has been going to bed between 10:00 and 10:30 and waking for his first feed at 1:00. He then sleeps until 3:30 and his next waking is between 5:30 and 6:00. It hasn't been too bad of a schedule for a 3 week old!
Last night he was fed just around 9:30 or so and did not wake up for his first feed until 1:45! He then slept until 4:30. After which he went right back to sleep until 6:30. He was awake until just recently when I put him down for another nap. Hopefully this schedule will stick since it is one I can really live with. The biggest difference between last night and the other nights is that he slept on his tummy all night last night. It seems like he's a tummy sleeper just like his big brothers. I plan on testing out the theory tonight to see if he has a similar night.
It's amazing that I got more sleep last night than I have in weeks but this morning I feel so tired... Hopefully the feeling will pass and I can quickly join the land of the living!

Cars 2
Steve and I finally took the boys to see the new Cars movie. Zachary and Nicolas were so excited that time could not go by fast enough for them. They kept asking for lunch all morning because they knew that we were going to see it after lunch.
We went to our very first "Stars & Strollers" which is designed for parents to take their babies and/or toddlers. The sound is a lot quieter than a normal theater and there is a lot more light. It worked out really well since it was a huge problem if the boys got a little rowdy or talked a little too loudly. They actually did so well that I wouldn't have worried about them in a regular theater. Charlie slept almost the whole way through the movie and only woke up when there was 20 or so minutes left. Even then he didn't even make much of a fuss.
The boys had a great time at the movie. It was a little violent for a kids movie but all that type of action went right over their heads. They loved all the racing and seeing all the new cars. It was a very entertaining movie for us as parents. The quality of the movie was amazing! Definitely worth seeing...

Charlie's 2 week check-up
I took Charlie in for his two week check-up this morning. The first words out of his pediatrician's mouth was that he looked like a very strong and healthy boy. All is well with my littlest man! He is 85th percentile for his height and off the charts for his weight. He has gained a whole pound since he was discharged from the hospital. He now weighs 11 pounds 4.5 ounces and still measures 22 inches long.
I was not at all surprised with how well he's doing. He's an eating machine and is getting more and more alert every day. I still cannot believe that he is already 2 weeks old.
On a side note, we got to meet Cameron (Mike and Christelle's son) at a function yesterday. Christelle was due a week after I was with Charlie and ended up having him 6 days after I had Charlie. So, the boys got to meet for the first time yesterday. It wasn't much of a meeting since they both slept the entire time... but hopefully there will be many more of these get togethers in their future...

Family Reunion
We went to Auntie Carolyn's house for a family get together today. It was an opportunity for some of the family members to meet Charlie and an excuse to have the cousins spend some time together. It is the perfect setting for this type of gathering especially on a hot day. Auntie Carolyn has a great in-ground pool with a big backyard. The kids can all swim until their hearts content and there is lots of room for people to spread out if need be.
All of the kids were great and got along wonderfully. It's so nice to see. Zachary and Nicolas had fun in the pool. They spent most of the time trying to spray the other kids with these jets. However Lauryn managed to get both boys in the pool with her. She is great with them and such an amazing swimmer. It seemed to spark an interest in the pool for they boys, which I am quite happy about.
