Bumper pads

I am now partially regretting my decision to not have bumper pads for the boys' cribs. Initially, I figured it might be safer without them. And, until now, that seemed to be a wise decision.

Since the boys have been moving about and now crawling around in their cribs, the lack of bumper pads is proving to be an unwise decision. They are now constantly losing their pacifiers and having them fall onto the floor. I think that if there were bumper pads, we could at least avoid the tumble to the floor which puts the pacifiers in a spot that is impossible for the boys to reach.

Mental note: Next time, get the bumper pads and put them away until they are useful!!

Great Baba...

I had to write a quick note because the boys lost their Great Baba (Steve's grandmother) today. Thankfully, the boys had the opportunity to meet her and will have a few pictures to remember her by.

May she rest in peace...

On the move!

Well, I officially have two babies on the move. Zachary has been crawling backwards for a week or so but now he has been really moving. As of two days ago, Nicolas was not moving in any direction other than in circles. Now, he is actually crawling forward. He is so proud of himself. I now wonder how long it will take Zachary to figure out the forward motion since his brother has it all figured out???

So sweet!

Meal Time Silliness

The boys are growing very quickly and are starting to eat us out of house and home! I can just imagine what it's going to be like when they are teenagers!!

Water Bottles

Zachary and Nicolas are not lacking when it comes to having toys to play with. The funny thing is that they LOVE playing with empty water bottles! Here is a video of the two of playing playing with a few bottles that were laying around...

Real little boys!

Kimberlee gave the boys the cutest baby Gap hoodies and baseball caps during my baby shower. Well, the boys are finally big enough to wear them so I snapped a few pictures of them in it yesterday. They look like such little men in their baseball caps.

It finally happened...

I knew that one day it would happen and for some reason I was surprised that it happened today. Nicolas bit me while he was nursing. Well, he wasn't drinking at the time (because he only has two bottom teeth so he could not have been drinking), but he still managed to get me pretty good. I think it has more to do with the fact that he caught me off guard.

I am trying to figure out the best possible way to handle the situation. I am going to start by telling him a firm "No" and removing him. If that does not work, I am not really sure what to try next. I am slowly weaning the boys and now I will try to make that happen a little bit sooner rather than later. I will also talk to their pediatrician about the best ways to do so when we see him next month. I just don't want them to make a lateral move from the breast to the bottle. I would much prefer for them to move forward. I guess maybe we can do formula in the sippy cup??

9 months old!

Zachary and Nicolas turned 9 months old yesterday. They have more than 3/4 of their frist year completed. I am so excited and happy about watching them grow and develop but at the same time my little boys are definitely no longer newborns or even littl babies. I know they are still babies but the seem much closer to toddlers than babies now. They are starting to talk (usually it's babbling) and they are on the verge of crawling. They are eating a fair amount of finger foods now and soon they will be feeding themselves.

I went and had them weighed and measured today. The nurses say they look great and are doing amazing (no big surprise!). So, here are the stats and some pictures...

Zachary:

Now weighs 21 pounds and is almost 28.5 inches long (he weighed 20 pounds 4 ounces on January 6th, 2009)

Nicolas:

Now weighs 19 pounds and is about 28.5 inches long (he weighed 18 pounds 3 ounces on January 6th, 2009)

Nicolas 2 - Zachary 0

Well, I discovered that Nicolas' second bottom tooth has just broken through the gums. That explains his continued crankiness. So, now Nicolas has two teeth and Zachary is still left toothless. He has been acting the same Nicolas was just before his first tooth cut through, so I am assuming that a tooth (or two) is on the way...

Wow! Teething sucks!
