Fun at the Ecomuseum...

Nana was in town and we decided to take her to the Ecomuseum.  The boys had a blast as usual.  Today their favorite animal was the otter.  I have to admit that they are quite spectacular to watch.  They also put on quite the show for us...

Charlie is already 9 months old!

My littlest man is already 9 months old.  There are only 3 short months to go before I have two 4 year olds and a 1 year old!  He is such a wonderful little boy and I am a very happy Mommy.  Here is my little sweetheart just before bed on his 9 month birth-aversary!

Poop issues...

Zachary has been having a problem with being constipated lately.  I've been trying prune juice as well as other remedies for the last few days without success.  So, I was suggested to try a suppository.  We headed out to the pharmacy and got what the pharmacist recommended.  When we got home, I gave Zachary the suppository and stayed with him for 10 minutes or so.  I then left them in quiet time.

About an hour or so later, I went in to let them know quiet time was over.  When I did, they informed me that Zachary's "medicine" came out of his bum and ended up on his road carpet.  I asked Zachary if he had pulled down his pants while he was in quiet time and he said no.  I then wondered how it would have come out of his bum and on the floor if he didn't pull down his pants?  I was informed that he went down his pant leg.  Nicolas piped in and told me that they used their Lego dinosaur to pick up the medicine and put it in the garbage.

Now, the problem is that I have no idea just how realistic this story is.  Is it possible that it came out?  The suppository should have mostly melted in 20 minutes so how much of it would have come out?  Also, you're not suppose to give more than one per day... so, if it doesn't help him go, can I try to give him another one?

I cannot believe how funny the things these kids come up with sometimes.  The story was so detailed, though.  It kind of seems impossible that it was made up...  Only time will tell, I guess! 

Fun with the cousins

Lolo, Katie and Sabrina were in visiting with Mom-I and Pop-I yesterday and today.  So, obviously the boys were very excited to play with them.  Lolo spent part of the afternoon with us on Sunday.  We were playing outside when she arrived.  She played with the big boys for a while, we all went for a walk and then she gave Charlie his bottle.  Here is a picture of Lolo hanging out with Charlie...

The big boys had a blast!  They get along very well with the girls.  It's too bad they aren't close enough that we could see them more often.  Maybe someday....

Lowering the crib mattress

We decided that Charlie is getting too close to pulling himself up that he is no longer safe with the mattress being at the highest level.  So, today, with the help of Zachary and Nicolas, Steve lowered the crib mattress.  We put Charlie in and let him stand up.  He was so proud of himself.  I get the feeling that if I let him do that a few more times, it won't be long before he starts pulling himself up.

Pacifier use

Many of you know that all of my boys have loved their pacifiers.  A lot of you know also know that even though I have no problem with a baby using a pacifier, I cannot stand seeing an older kid with one hanging out of his/her mouth.  I see it all the time... a child who can not only walk but talk in complete sentences with a tool used to soothe babies.  I am not sure why I find it so irritating to see.  But it's one of those things that just bugs me.  So, when the twins started to crawl, I immediately removed their pacifiers from them while they were awake.  They did not need them while they were busy playing and were simply using them as a toy.  So, they were put in their room and were only given to them at nap and bedtime. 

Well, Charlie is now crawling around and has no use for a pacifier during his awake time either.  So, his pacifier has been staying in his bed when he is awake.  He is such a big boy and has not complained about it once.  I find that keeping the pacifier for sleep time very useful since it then becomes one of those triggers to indicate when it's time for bed.  Charlie is such a great sleeper and will happily go to bed when tired.  But I've noticed that in the last two days when he sees me giving him his pacifier, there is an immediate calm that comes over him and he settles almost right away.

It is yet another sign that I no longer really have babies in this house.  Zachary and Nicolas are soon approaching 4 years old and Charlie will be turning 1 a few short weeks after that.  Time sure does fly!   I am so thankful that I am here with them day in and day out to enjoy all of it.

Same old... same old...

I am getting so tired of the same old posts but here goes...  We are sick... again!  Steve and I were at a wedding in Toronto over the weekend and we came home Sunday to a feverish and coughing Nicolas.  Monday brought on the same thing for Zachary and myself.  Steve looks like he's going to be next.  Charlie has a bit of a runny nose but seems no worse for wear.

I am so anxious for this winter to be over so that the beautiful weather can be upon us.  I am so looking forward to being outside with the boys.  Spring, can you do me a favor and get here already?
