Gestational Diabetes

I just received a call from my OB's nurse stating that I failed the 1 hour glucose test.  I had a reading of 10.1 when they are looking for a maximum of 7.9.  I now need to go back and do the 2 hour test.  I was in a similar situation with the boys except my failing of the 1 hour test was less drastic.

The nurse told me that most women pass the 2 hour after failing the 1 hour.  But it didn't sound optimistic when I informed her that I fasted for the last test.  She said to remain optimistic and we'll see what happens after the 2 hour test.  I have another 2 weeks or so before my next appointment and hopefully the news from the next test will be good.  I plan to go in on Monday morning to have the test done so I should have results by the end of the day on Tuesday.  Keep your fingers crossed!

Sliding....

 We decided to go sliding this afternoon.  We figured we didn't have enough time to go to a sliding hill, but instead one was made in our front yard.  Timmy and Uncle Paul were here and the kiddos had a blast!  This was the first time that my boys went sliding down a hill alone (i.e without Daddy) and I think Nicolas was a little terrified.  He slide down a few times but had more fun shoveling snow instead.  Zachary loved every second of it.  Here are a few pictures...

So tall....

My boys are growing so much!  I don't know if they are really that tall.  But when I compare them to other kids their age, they are quite a bit taller than the others.  They are such big boys now that it almost seems like it was an eternity ago when they were babies.  We got them some new decorations for their room and one of the is a growth chart.  So after we put it up, we measured them and snapped a picture...

Fun with Timmy...

Timmy (the son of some friends of ours) came over to visit the other day with his Daddy (Uncle Paul to the boys).  Aunt Jinny is very pregnant and due in about a week so she needed a bit of quiet in the house.  We were quite happy to have Timmy over to play.  The boys love having him around and they all get along so well.  The played for about an hour before we started our bedtime routine which consists of watching a half hour of tv.  Lately the show of choice is Little Einsteins.  Timmy is also a fan of the show and the three watched together, helping the Little Einsteins out the entire time.  It was adorable!  Here are a few pictures Steve snapped...

All Dry!

Well, after my last post we have been very successful!  Both boys have stayed dry all day long since.  So, it looks like the potty training worked!  We were even successful in pooping on the potty yesterday for Zachary.  He was so excited that I think it's a trend that may continue!  We are well on our way.

Success for one out of two!

Potty training has been going reasonably well.  Our days have been filled with mostly peeing on the potty with a few accidents from Zachary and Nicolas each day.

But today Nicolas had a wonderful day.  He stayed dry the entire day!  Zachary looked like he was on track for that as well but he didn't have that great of a day.  I wonder whether or not his cold has anything to do with the fact that he's just been peeing so much.  You can't blame the kid if he pees 6 or more times in an hour.

Maybe tomorrow will be the day when I have two boys that stay dry all day.  Regardless they have still made huge progress since we first started it all.  I am very proud of them and how well they're doing.
