A sick household...

Well, the four of us are now sick and it sucks! Thankfully Nicolas has still been sleeping well, but Zachary is another matter. He was up from 11:30 until just after 1:00 last night and then from about 5:00 until I gave up and let them be "awake" at 7:00. He cried for almost the first hour (between 7:00 and 8:00) because he was so tired and miserable. I feel terrible but since I am also sick, I need my sleep.

Hopefully they will have a good nap this afternoon so that I can take one too.

Weekend getaway...

Steve and I went out of town to attend a beautiful wedding this weekend. The bride's father has a cottage on Crow Lake, Ontario and they decided to have the wedding held there. What a beautiful location! The weather was fantastic as was the view. We left Friday morning and were back home on Sunday before the boys' afternoon nap. We had a great time but missed the boys terribly. It was a good thing we never even considered bringing them with us since it was not exactly the place for them. Here are a few pictures...

I think the boys missed us while we were away. This was the first time that we were both away for two nights. Nana and Papa, who watched them while we were away, said they did very well. They caught my Mom's cold so we got home to two boys with runny noses. But all in all, a successful weekend...

Who Wants Ice Cream?

Zachary and Nicolas had ice cream in a tiny cone for the first time today. Boy, did they love it! Zachary caught on to the concept of licking the ice cream very quickly. Nicolas explored his cone and discovered that the cone could be eaten. Then it was all over. He discovered the pointed end and started chewing on that. Luckily I did not put much ice cream in the cone so the mess wasn't too bad. As you can see in the picture, Zachary soon followed suit...

Loving Bear!

We visited the boys' Great Uncle Paul and Great Auntie D yesterday. They were hosting a baby shower for their new grandson Ryder, who is adorable! They have a gorgeous dog named Bear that the boys are in love with. Here are a few pictures of the boys and Bear!

The other perk to visiting Great Uncle Paul (other than seeing them, of course!) is that he has a huge collection of Matchbox cars. He always lets the boys take home two each! They love these cars so much and play with them everyday. They held on to them very tightly on the drive home. And now, they are part of the collection in the front window...

A surprise tooth!

While I was brushing Zachary's teeth last night I noticed that he just got a new tooth. Other than the fact that he was very unhappy with my brushing his teeth last night (which is rare), there was absolutely no sign that the poor little man was even cutting a new tooth! So, now Nicolas has 6 teeth and Zachary now has 5. What big boys!

Here are just a few cute pictures of the boys. They are doing so well. They are making a lot more syllables when "talking" and I get the feeling it won't be long before they really start talking. They can already say a few words, some that only we understand, but I think soon a perfect stranger will be understanding what they say.

Nicolas just got another tooth today. There must have been minimal teething pain with this one since he has not complained at all.

A night away...

I just got back from a night away (I had a bachelorette party in Ottawa for a friend). It was a good time but it felt kind of weird to be away from the boys without Steve. But, I knew they were in good hands and I was not at all worried.

I did, however, miss a few things while I was away. Nicolas finally cut one of his top teeth (next to his top right). The one on the left should be coming through any day now. Zachary said "grampy" in trying to get Grandpa's attention and Nicolas said something that sounded remarkably close to Grandma. And, I missed it all :(

I am sure I will hear it again sometime and at least Grandma, Grandpa and Steve were hear to witness it...
