Apple Sauce

Today we tried some apple sauce. It looked so good I wanted to have some but I left it all for the boys. It's a good thing I did because they loved it! They eat the whole container and I am sure they would have polished off another one if I offered it to them.

They are such good eaters! It will be great once they can start eating real meals with us...

Yay for Zachary...

We have been battling with the sleeping issues for a while now. We started Baby Boot Camp a few weeks ago and we were almost on track and then the boys got sick. Now that they are well again, we decided that Baby Boot Camp would resume this weekend.

The boys have been teething a lot lately and it is now waking them at night! Another reason for them not to sleep through the night... Tempra seems to be doing the trick to help them sleep but once it wears off, they are usually up again...

However, last night Zachary gave us a pleasant surprise. He went to bed around 8:30 and briefly woke up around 12:00. I gave him back his pacifier as well as a few drops of Tempra (I coated his pacifier with some). He then slept until 3:30 when he was up for a quick feed and then back down until 7:00! Now that I can live with!

Nicolas did not do as well. He seems to be having an issue settling and is crying a lot due to the pain from him teething.

I was recommended some homeopathic teething tablets (made by Hyland). I picked some up today and plan on trying them. I was looking for an alternative to the Tempra because I just didn't want to constantly be giving it to them. I will keep you updated on the Hyland teething tablets.

Baby Boot Camp Resumes

Since the boys are feeling much better we decided that we need to start Baby Boot Camp again. During their bouts with ear infections, the boys got used to falling asleep in our arms and not sleeping in their own cribs. As they started to feel better, they started to readily sleep in their cribs again. Now, I just need to break the habit of them waking to eat twice during the night.

They are still not feeling 100% (they both are still a little bit congested) and now they appear to be teething quite a bit, we are going to take things slowly. By this upcoming weekend (and their 6 month birth-aversary as I like to call it!) I would like to have them sleeping from 8:00 pm until at least 3:00-4:00 am. I will let you all know how that plan works out for us...

Apricots

Well, Steve is finally home and it is time for a new fruit so he picked out apricots. The boys loved them! They really seem to be enjoying everything we are giving them which is quite promising. I am happy to not have picky eaters. Let's just hope that this trend continues...

Their First Fruit!

The boys are feeling better today so we decided to give them a fruit for lunch. Since Grandma was here, I told her to choose what they would have... and the winner is peaches!

They loved it! They eat everything we had and could probably have had more. Grandma gave them their first spoonfuls but could not keep up with the demand, so I helped out. It is so cute to watch them try new things. They never seem to like the first taste but once they have a second spoonful, they are hooked!

The joys of antibiotics

Zachary and Nicolas have had 2 doses of antibiotics so far and there has been a vast improvement in their mood. They are obviously feeling much better because they are a little more independent and are sleeping better. They actually both went down for two naps today, in their cribs and they fell asleep all on their own. This is typical for them and they have not been able to do so for the last week or so. Hopefully this means that they are on an up swing...

Update on the boys...

Zachary and Nicolas have been sick for over a week now. They are so lethargic and all they want is to be held. This is proving to be somewhat difficult for me since I only have one pair of arms. Steve was home for the weekend (including Monday) and left for Germany on Monday night. He will be coming home on Sunday (late afternoon). Grandma came down to give me a hand for the week and the timing could not have been better. I was in desperate need for an extra set of arms. The boys are so congested that they cannot lie down in their cribs to sleep. They get so stuffed up that they can no longer breathe. So, they have been spending a lot of time sleeping upright on us. This means that Mommy and Grandma are not getting all that much restful sleep.

The boys spiked fevers yesterday afternoon and last night so I called and booked an appointment with a pediatrician at their clinic. We went for our 11:30 appointment and got out of there around 1:00. However, it was worth the wait. Both boys have ear infections and are now on antibiotics. I am so sad that they have ear infections, however, at least now we have some medication to be able to make them feel better.

On a side note, I also went to see a doctor and I have a sinus infection. So, all three of us are on the same antibiotic...
